Lifeway College has a campus located in central Auckland providing an urban lifestyle for
students. This campus is located within walking distance to train and central city bus links. It has
an auditorium, student lounge and is close to hundreds of businesses. It is the perfect location
for those students who love city life. This campus offers various full time courses across the
three faculties.

Students with IELTS
For International Students for whom English is not a native language a score of IELTS 5.5 for the
Level 5 Diploma and IELTS 6.0 for the Level 6 Diploma is required before applying.
Students without IELTS
Lifeway College may accept proof of English competency as attained through prior learning at
another institute where English is the teaching medium.
Lifeway College may accept proof of English competency by completing an IELTS Equivalency
Test completed by the student in their native country .This test may be re‐taken on arrival of
student by the college itself if the College deems it necessary.
Additional Application Requirements
All students wishing to enroll into the Diploma in Business Administration Level 5 must submit:

1. A one‐page essay stating why you wish to study this qualification. Include experiences
that have led to this decision, personal strengths and weaknesses in pursuing this career
path.
2. Relevant references should be included with your application. ( If asked by the College).

Diploma in 3D Animation Level 6 must submit:

1. A one‐page essay stating why you wish to study this qualification. Include experiences
that have led to this decision, personal strengths and weaknesses in pursuing this career
path, mathematical background, experience with computers and name all applications
you have used.
2. A portfolio of relevant visual work made up of at least 5‐6 pencil drawings and any
computer generated work together with any other relevant work.
3. A signed statement informing proof of your own work.
4. Evidence of high school Mathematics and English, or equivalent.
5. Relevant references should be included with your application.

Progression
Entry into the Diploma in Advanced 3D Animation Level 7 requires completion of the Diploma in
3D Animation Level 6, or previous experience or academic study in the field of animation.
Additional application requirements level 7
Applicants must submit a show reel and/or documented proof (such as a portfolio or website) of
their artistic and computer ability and their level of expertise.
Applicants should also label their work specifying their involvement and participation of the
work being showcased and verify that it is the applicant’s own work.

Stepwise Procedure

Step 1:

Complete the Lifeway College Enrolment forms and must be sent along with it :
1) A copy of your current passport ( Front and Back Page)
2) Two recent passport photos.
3) 10th and 12th Marksheets with Passing Certificates
4) Bachelors Degree is applying for a Direct Level ‐ 6 or 7 program.
5) International Students must provide evidence of suitable English proficiency i.e. a certified
IELTS document showing relevant score as required for the course you have chosen to apply for
or “IELTS Equivalency Test” + Letter from school stating that you have studied in English
medium from last five years.
6) A one‐page essay stating why you wish to study this qualification
6) Digital media applicants only: 5‐6 pieces of artwork.
Step 2:
A letter of offer will be sent to you after assessment & approval* from the college.

Step 4:
After receiving ‘ APPROVED IN PRINCIPLE’ by NZIS through the immigration letter;
1) Pay your course fees. Include payment for Medical and Travel insurance to cover the full
length of your stay.
2) Transfer Living Expenses to ANZ bank in NZ. (If applied under FTS)
Step 5:
Lifeway College will send you a letter of acceptance and receipt of payment & ANZ bank will
provide you balance confirmation certificate. (If applied under FTS)
Send these documents with “AIP” letter to INZ for visa endorsement.
Step 6:
Book flights in time to be at the College 1 day prior to Registration Day. Please inform the
College of your arrival and departure dates and if you require an airport pick‐up.
Apply for Medical and Travel Insurance to cover the full length of your stay. Submit a copy of
your visa, Medical and Travel Insurance to Lifeway before you leave your country. Arrive at
Lifeway College for orientation and registration. Lifeway College requires that all students show
evidence of valid visa and Medical and Travel Insurance (showing sufficient cover for the
duration of studies) prior to their arrival in New Zealand and commencement of study

Student Profile

Of the approximately 7,500 students enrolled in credit programs during the fall of 2009:

• 34% are enrolled in arts and sciences; 56% in applied programs; 10% in preparatory programs
• 72% are full-time; 28% part-time
• 59% female; 41% male
• 40% are residents of the North Shore; 26% are residents of Vancouver and Burnaby; the remaining 34% come from the rest of the Lower Mainland, British Columbia, Canada and around the world.

History

Capilano was founded by the school boards and residents of North Vancouver, West Vancouver and Howe Sound through referendum in 1968. Classes that first year were held in a small building on the grounds of West Vancouver Secondary School.

Initial enrolment that first year was 784 students. Today, Capilano has blossomed into a publicly-funded learning institution that serves 7,000 credit and 7,000 non-credit students annually. It has approximately 785 employees.

In 1973, Capilano opened its permanent 13.76 hectare (34-acre) campus in the Lynnmour area of North Vancouver. That same year, it also established a regional centre in Squamish to serve the Howe Sound communities of Squamish, Whistler, Mount Currie and Pemberton. In 1977, Capilano opened the Sunshine Coast campus in Sechelt to serve the communities of the Sunshine Coast.

In 2008, the provincial government changed Capilano College’s designation to Capilano University.

University Growth/Campus Development

A master site plan outlines the most recent development of the North Vancouver campus:

• Construction of a new Film Centre began in March 2010 with completion scheduled for March 2011.
• Capilano’s new Child Care Centre was completed in 1996. At 7,100 gross square feet, it can accommodate 79 children, from infants to five year olds.
• The Birch building was completed in 1996. It houses a 380-seat performance theatre, classrooms and student services, and also provides teaching space to accommodate 400 full-time students.
• In September 1994, Capilano’s Squamish campus held a ground-breaking ceremony to mark the beginning of construction of a new campus, which opening in May 1995.
• The new Library building opened in 1993, tripling the size of the existing library space.
• The Sportsplex was completed in the fall of 1991. This marked the beginning of the development of the south campus.
• Construction of the Cedar building was completed in 1991. It added three floors of classroom and faculty office space, plus a 90-seat lecture theatre.

Mohawk College previously offered a one year version of this program that was just not long enough to allow time for credential recognition and post graduate work opportunities.  The task to realize settlement is to find a job in the SUPPY CHAIN to the health sector that will qualify them for a three year post graduate work term under the Canadian Experience Class.  It is a two year version of the previous one year program with more options to specialize.
